| Mixed-relationships on film Posted on: 05/09/2007 16:03:00 Posted by: Hamish Macpherson | In a comment I left for Ashley Chisholm I wondered whether the arts as well as/ rather than government have a role to create a society in which mixed relationships receive the support and acceptance we would hope from any relationships.
I don't want to pre-empt tomorrow's discussions which will look at portrayal of mixed-race people.
But how well are films doing rre: relationships? There’s plenty of films that use the conflict and disapproval and ‘two worlds colliding’ as dramatic devices but do these help of hinder.
Is any kind of portrayal a help or by ignoring the less turbulent relationships they are perpetuating the idea that there will always be trouble?
